Planter's Row Golf - Ladies' League
PLAYING FORMAT
The 2009 Ladies' League will play on Thursday nights. Tee Times start at 4pm beginning May 7th, 2009 and run through August 6th, 2009. A registration fee of $25.00 will cover weekly contests, handicap service, and prizes for the winners. Greens fees are $10 for 9 holes including cart. No additional fee will be charged for ladies wishing to play a full 18 holes on league night. Only the designated 9 holes will count for league play. Opening scores will be posted by the golf professional to begin a handicap for each golfer. After that, each golfer will post her own score at the conclusion of play. The handicap service provides a running handicap up to 52 scores, so everyone will have a handicap after the first night.
At the conclusion of the session, prizes will be awarded for the lowest actual scoring average and the lowest handicapped average. The lowest handicapped average will be calculated using the current handicap subtracted from the overall scoring average for the session. In the event of ties, the available prize amount will be split. Because Planters Row realizes that busy schedules can cause some weekd to be missed, the number of rounds required for eligibility will be ten of the fourteen possible weeks. It is our hope that this will encourage more participation, since attendance is not a major part of the end result. Now, go out and hit 'em straight!
RULES FOR LEAGUE PLAY
- The ball may be moved within a six-inch area on the fairway to improve a lie - no closer to the hole.
- Proper etiquette must be observed at all times.
- Golfers must putt out each hole unless they have already hit the eighth shot. No one will take more than eight shots on a hole. Pick it up and start the next hole.
- Out of bounds - if a shot goes beyond the white stakes that mark the bounds, the golfer must return to the originial spot, add a penalty stroke, and hit again.
- Swinging and missing the ball counts as a stroke.
- If a ball is hit into a water hazard, the golfer must drop another ball two club lengths from the point of entry and add a penalty stroke.
- If a ball is lost (after a five-minute search) the golfer must return to the original spot, add a penalty stroke, and hit again.
- Any disputes as to procedure that cannot be settled within the group will be decided by the golf professional.
Planters Row wants to provide an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all golfers in the league. We hope everyone will make an effort to meet and play with new friends as the season progresses. We welcome any suggestions or input as to how we may improve the Ladies' League.
We appreciate your participation, and look forward to a fun season!
